You normally get charged vat which is 15% at the moment rising to 17.5% in the new year then you get charged 3% import duty.

Hope this helps

If you can have them marked as gift with the value below $30 at your own risk of course, you shouldnt get any import tax

£25 postage from the states for wheels????

Ive just paid £50 ish for a clutch

You can ask them to send them as a replacement set, invoice amount of say $40. Then get them to say the value is how ever much you paid. They will only charge for invoice amount. you will be stung with a brokerage fee also

had my clutch arrived today and only paid tax on invoice amount

HTH

When you import something that needs to have import tax on it the company will usually pay the tax for you then request it back. The people who work out the tax you have to pay are the brokers and you pay them for the priviledge

not 100% if thats how it works but thats the impression i got when i was asking about.

I recently imported a clutch.

I dont want to second guess you mate but £25 for postage. 4 wheels? It costs more than that in this country

edit to say, the UK courier/handler will invoice you for the import charges plus their handling fee.

You have to ask the seller that mate. normally postage is to your door.

£25 is still way to low even if its to get it to dock i think.

Although if he sends it super budget by sea it will be reasonably cheap
