If it was registered after march 06 then you cop the full tax, if it was registered before (in the uk, didnt matter how old it was as long as it was built after 2000) then you dont get the full wack

Smile To soften the blow

Most of us keep our cars 3 years, so thats 200+ extra per year, in total
£600. and we save a bundle which ofsets depreciation also.

The costs a competitor car, based on the STI based on pre-reg

Audi S3 £27,400 + extras
Focus RS is £29,000 (base model availability as likely as seeing Tiger woods walking down the local Tescos; so Lux Pax is the only option unless you want to wait 6 months or more).

So at 24k for a 59 pre-reg plate STI its cheap even when you look at road tax. i highly recommend Blue! The brakes are the size of Ireland.

Makes paying £400+ for a 2006+ seem rather harsh, my 03sti puts out more co2!

Seems harsh because this government actually doesn't give a **** about the environment or climate change (if it's actually happening but that's another debate!). All it wants to do is bend the average guy in the street over and shaft them up the ar$e to bolster its tax revenues*

*in order to ensure that the banks can swallow up further £billions of your hard-earned

I like to think my fully decatted ALS classic wagon makes up for the environmental 'carnage' my MY06 STi isn't causing @ £1k miles a year

But will still be taxed at £435 from April 1st 2010

You guys don't know have lucky you have it.

There's no scooby in ireland (turbo'd that is) with tax less than 614 euro a year thats over £550.

Then if you have a hatch, that's over £1800 a year!
Accompany that with 36% vehicle reg tax, which amounts to £10,800 on top of the purchase price of a 05 type uk sti. So its £17,280 on top of the price of a new hatch sti.

And you think you are getting bent over and shafted by your government

The only thing thats about the same is the price of petrol, although we're about to get shafted on that this thursday with the new budget, and for that its still only 95 octane, with maxol E5 (98) available in a handfull of places.

My tax renewal just came through the post. 06 Plate STI Impreza with PPP registered on 03/03/06 (not a JDM model)

Tax cost - £215 for the year

Scrapped through by about 20 days by the looks of it
