Default What do you say?

Iv had an evo but never a subaru so I found this, just wondering what you guys think? is it worth the money?
What negatives should i look out for? I keep getting told a 96 is too old.
Care to shed a light.

Subaru : SUBARU IMPREZA STI V2 *PRICE DROP*

Thanks

Don't worry about the age to much. I've always gone by condition, history and mileage. I bought a MY96 V2 sti '555', it had only done 48,000 documented miles and a full service history. It only needed a bit of cosmetic tlc and it's been the best car I have ever owned!, what's your budget and also what sort of Impreza experience are you after?

iv got my head set on the wagon, really for the boot space and 4 doors. Like i said above had an evo so i compromised with the wife, 4 door it had to be, then my habit for jap cars took over and i got a 02 type r not thinking about my 2 kids. So now im getting it in the ear. What experience am i after.......... well im used to power from 200bhp up and i want a nice drive when iv got the family, plus when i go on holiday space for the suit cases. But when im on my own i need a fun drive. Hopefully i wont be disappointed. Iv also been told that subarus oil has to be check often weather old or new ??? how true is this? I now older cars are prone to burning oil

Well dont go with his bhp figure, its less than that at 260ps (257bhp) and not 280ps (276bhp).
You may need to sort out the intercooler as all those fins look very bent so they are not providing the best cooling but if your happy with the car and its condition then go for it

Tony

PS it wasnt until the version 3 STI where they started pushing 276bhp standard

Why not go for a saloon, 4 doors and good boot space and better power as standard if you're going for a import Scooby

looks like the coolant header tank has had some overheating action imo and why is the battery clamp attatched to the front of the manifold ??

the coolant header tank on the left hand side of the pic has alot of rusty residue around the top and rusty spray marks around the air filter housing , normally an indication it has boiled over at some point ,

the battery clamp is the thing that is above the pulleys lol
