High Mileage - What's the worst I can expect?

Similar Questions have been asked before, but I can't find them .
I am thinking about looking at a few High mileage Impreza Sports, i can't understand it, but they all seem to be approaching 100k. If i were to plump for one of these, what horror's could I expect if it were to go wrong. Is it really worth looking at the older ones. I could buy one of these outright, and to be honest.. i don't really need any debts .
I may just go and have a look at this one, (I presume it's a Sport)

Andy,
I've got a high(ish) mileage Turbo.....
The main expense is the usual things like -
1. Clutch
2. Exhaust
3. Wheel Bearings
4. GearBox
This type of thing.....
Also, you've got to take into account servicing..... bear in mind the Scoob has a big service at 90K (engine out job)
The one you've highlighted looks nice - bit pricey though. You can get a WRX (import) for another £500 - £1000......
Just my 2p.

I had a 90K service today. They didn't take the engine out. Why do you need to take out the engine?
Anyway, the guy did mention that a wheel bearing was on the way out (squeaking) though I've never noticed. He also said the car was likely to be on it's second clutch.
The exhaust was pretty rusty in places though no holes, but I've popped on a SS de-cat centre and Scooby Sport Back Box. Apart from this all seems well, but I guess in the end it depends how well a car has been looked after and treated that counts.

Bearing in mind this is a Sport, I could not afford to insure a Turbo of any description , I think it's a 97/98 R Facelifted model.
Robin - How much was the 90K service.. I didn't think the engine had to come out, but I do realise that it'll be between £550 and £750
Dan - The problems you have highlighted don't seem that major to me, I'm just worried about the actual engine internals letting go (Real expense).

Avi,
Yes the cost is a killer. The offical dealer prices I found were between 675 and 800 bucks!!
We are lucky down here though because Subaru4You will do it for just 518 quid and no VAT. Most of the cost is the cambelt replacement, and there is no way round that one. They also fitted a dump valve and exhaust centre section for free!!
I'd love to see an official dealer offer that kind of service!!
