Default Help fitting Intercooler Y Pipe

Folks,

I know I can count on someone on here to hand out some handy hint and tips, so here goes.

Ive purchased a Prodrive Intercooler Y Pipe, which I planned on fitting this morning. According to instruction I managed to secure of the internet it looks straight forward enough and should only really take about 30 mins. However I'm struggling.

I've pulled the hoses from the breather pipes attached to the intercooler, and removed the bolts from the BOV ? DV ?, and also the bolts that hold the actual intercooler in place. Ive then loosened off the Jubilee clips that secure the hose from the intercooler to the Inlet manifold and the one that holds the turbo to intercooler hose in place.

Ive wiggeld the intercooler around and managed to get the throttle body hose to come away, however I can get the hose from the turbo to pull away, even with the jubilee clip completly loosened.

Am I missing something, is there something in the way, or am I just not being brutal enough with it ?

Thanks for any help.

Bit of brute strength and ingnorance. B carefull that the IC hose is not "welded" to the turbo through age.

First time I took mine off I had to jam a screwdriver between the pipe and the flange to break the "stiction". After that a doddle.

Exactly the cause, suggestion is to use a very small but long screwdriver to ease the hose.

Guys thanks very much for your suggestions, they worked a treat. What a unnecessarily tedious job that was trying to pull the hose away from the turbo, but the jabbing it with a screwdriver worked to at least loosen the top enough that I could peel it away at the bottom.

Fitted the new hose in minutes, cleaned the intercooler fins with a brush to get all the leaves and crap out, and replaced the whole thing a hell of a lot easier than it came out. Took the car for a test drive to check I had tightened up all the jubilee clips ok, all seems fine. In fact, it may be purely pyschological, but it does appear to spin up a little quicker now, perhaps in conjunction with my Green panel filter it has helped a little. I can certainly hear the turbo a little more.

Oh well job done, another mod off the list, and thanks again for your help.

Very simple:

1. Undo bracket bolts
2. Loosen the jubilee clips on the throttle body side and turbo side.
3. Remove intercooler (remove d/v if needed)
4. Remove old Y pipe
5. Refit new Y pipe
6. Refit IC
(7. Put some plasters on )
