Modded 08 STi £329 FC insurance !!!!!!
Still in a state of shock.
OK I'm not young, live in Norfolk etc etc but did my usual ring round for quotes, faxing the sheet of mods etc and was quite pleased with quotes from A-Plan and Lifescene (?) at £550, but not impressed with the comments about Markerstudy and Group AMA underwriters on various web sites. Rang Saga, checked they do Euro Imports, high performance cars, modded cars then gave details. Unbelievable ! I am still thinking its too good to be true, so am waiting for documents to arrive - although the guy read out all the relevant details back to me.
Not enough variety of smilies to convey emotions !
Reason it is same premium as std Sti is because all the mods were fitted by garage who sold me the car (Iain Litchfield) before the new car was collected.
Beats NFU (Northampton branch - know modded Scoobies) who previously did a great deal, but wanted £803 !
Going for a lie down now !

£305 for me Subaru insure said they'd price match as it wasnt a WRX. Saying that, next years renual will be the teller as it will be modded then.
Then I'll see how cheap the WRXD's are to insure.

That £329 seems a bit expensive now, lol
On a serious note and and postcode (postcode being the main one) make a massive difference.
I insure one guy in the highlands who pays less (combined) for a R32 GTR Skyline, Supra TT, Celica GT4, and Mitubishi GTO than most people pay for just one Impreza

£348 for 08 STI for me. i'm 56 years young. I got £176 refund when i traded in my modded wrx. The new hatches are much cheaper to insure. Its official. Evidently, they are much more secure and seemed to have lost the boy racer image. I am absolutely made up with mine. For the price i paid for it, there is nothing out there that comes close.

Insurance can be a nightmare, I have always used Gary for my insurance, but this year I came back to Subaru after a year out with a Lancer Diesel the insurance for a 2009 wrx-s with all the pro drive trimmings was cheaper with "more than" than what I had been paying to insure a diesel. Even gary told me to snap there hands off £315 for a 40 yr old plus spouse.

Looks like the people quoting £500+ are just taking the ps then, let alone NFU @ £800 !
If numerous Insurance companies can have low premiums where is the sense of competition - or is it just about big profits with certain "well advertised" people ?

Something not right somewhere, I've just had a quote from Subaru Insurance for £672 for unmodified 2009 wrxs. I'm 62, full no claims, clean licence, live in small country town with low crime rate, tracker fitted, kept overnight in locked garage, 8k miles per annum, £250 xs.

Sounds like "Occasional type 25 user" means limited mileage policy. Mine is 13K est anual mileage, so £329 sounds a better deal !!

Agree with that ! I'd ask why the difference.
scixer
Compared to the £1K, £806, £555, £546 other quotes it seems good to me!!!
