Did you try a little left foot worked???
I`ll take my car out next time and see how it go`s on a race track even tho it wasnt really made for one.

Andrew

Having just asked Wayne @ GGR, the answer is...

Apparently, the Prodrive ones are similar to the STi ones & GGR is 5% shorter throw than STi & 30% on standard MY99 Turbos...

Cheaper too as you don't need the bushes etc that come with the Prodrive ones...

DocJock had one (Prodrive) in his Wagon & I'm well impressed so I'll be getting one for PTMW!

Wonder if the wife will notice

Are these easy to fit or is it a professional job?

Cheers

According to Wayne @ GGR its 30 minute job by non-techy-mechy person...

But he would say that

Andrew,

I believe the gear shift is very similar to the P1....certainly my MY98 with Prodrive Short Shift had the same feel as the P1 one (one one one???? ) - a lot of ones their...

Anyway, hope that helps.

Tom

P.S Also nice to put a face to a name to a client - and echoing Arron...some tidy driving on Sunday!!

does this GGR kit also provide approx 30% shorter throw on a MY00 turbo ?

i drove a MY99 turbo with a prodrive quickshift and was impressed with the difference over a standard MY99 demo car i drove.

i've been seriously considering a quickshift since buying my turbo but the prodrive / dealer price is £245 + vat fitted ?

so £69.95 is a bargain !

Hi All

I was going to get one of these because of the amazing price but was told by Harj to wait and get a BPM one. Is this a good idea or should i just order a GGR one now? Does anyone know how much the BPM one is likely to cost?

It still baffles me. How can you possibly reduce gear change time by fitting a shorter throw lever.
The clutch takes longer to release and apply than it takes to move the stick from one gear to another.
When ever i`m in a hire car or similar I rarely use the clutch and this is definately quicker. But. a shorter throw on the gear shift is gonna be nothin, perhaps milliseconds but nothing much.
Hype and bull**** again.

Dunno about the rest of this lot here - but I personally prefer the quick shift 'cos I'm damn lazy.

I prefer not having to move the stick as far - nothing to do with gear change speed

Question

On the SIDC site it says that a quickshift on a pre MY97 can "beat the gearbox" is this true.

I have a MY96 and fancy one of the GGR ones, but not if it crunches the box.

Crikey !! didn't realise it was so easy to fit !!

I'm ordering one know !!

Is there any chance of asking that chap if we could borrow his fitting instructions to put in the databank in the shop ? I'm sure in the future more peeps would be interested if they knew they could fit it themselves.

Question

So has anyone fitted one of these to an MY00? Is it worth doing? I've got no problem in spending the money, as long as it worth doing.

It will definately fit a MY00.

Wayne said/implied that it was better value than Prodrive kit certainly as far back as MY97 as linkages would/should not be worn/too worn.

As to VFM, I don't (yet) know. The one on DocJock's car provided a lot more confidence and feel to a gear-change. I likened it at the time to having a gate, like on a Ferrari. I don't think my gear-changes were necessarily quicker, but it wasn't my car/clutch/gearbox. However, they were definately more precise & accurate. I think I only missed one gear, whereas a couple in PTMW! & in less time. Besides, the [movement] action was better.

Horses etc

With respect Ian, this is a public BBS - people reply of their own free will - there is no compulsion to do so.

I would suggest speaking to Harj again and see if knows anyone that has the BPM fitted (as I assume he is speaking from experience).

I understand that however if i can help someone out then i do.........the reason why im so impatient this time is because this offer closes THIS week so i dont want to miss this out if the GGR one is better value for money.
