2003 STI wont remote lock, immobiliser stays on
Jumped in the car this morning (very cold -3), car started as normal and went to work.
Got to work, killed the engine and found that the car won't lock using the remote button on the key, also unable to restart the car as the immobliser won't cancel.
It seems unlikely that it's the battery in the key but it's a possibility.
I have a couple of questions which I hope you can help with.
I know the code for the security keypad but not how to disarm the immobiliser with it, can someone let me know what the procedure is?
I presume it's possible that it's a fuse issue, is the fuse for this system in the car or under the bonnet?
Any help would be appreciated.

Managed to get the keypad working, I had to activate the alarm via the pad before I could deactivate the alarm and immobiliser. Thank god that's working as I would not want my car to remain where it is overnight. Will be able to get home and check my other key now as well, sweet.
I assume as it all seems to be working except the remote key it isn't a fuse issue?

May be unrelated but I had a similar issue with a 2001 Legacy - failed to remote lock / unlock and immobiliser appeared to be on, couldn't start it etc. This turned out to be a fuse, a 15a accessory fuse in the compartment under the bonnet... might be worth checking just in case

Overhead transmission lines / mobile phone masts?
When I parked side on, on a 45° slope the alarm would not set remotely. Had to lock / unlock manually.
HTH.

this happened to me once. the car would turn over but the damm thing wouldn't start up. the alarm kept going off aswell. sounds like the same thing. its a fuse which will be behind the control key pad inside the car. i too have a 2003 sti. i stalled my car on the parade in leamington spa. you can imagine my face when it wouldn't restart.
