Angry Messed up big time, Simtec ecu

I recently sold a Mines ecu for a v1 wrx, but my wife wrongly posted a simtec ecu i was waiting to get fitted by Mr Forrest, (Andy will have all our corespondance from the last few weeks), i contacted the buyer, he said he bought it to sell on & his buyer had been & collected it, he gave me a contact number which i phoned, the guy didn't want to return the ecu & wanted to speak to the guy i sold it to. I later got a text saying he refused to return it & got told to Fu*k off. The ecu was shipped to Ireland.
Could i ask if anyone sees this ecu for sale or is asked to map it please get in touch. Its a 4 plug simtec with serial number E1S96.0405
I have contacted as many suppliers & mappers of Simtec as i could find to keep an eye out for this ecu,(thanks for the replies chaps) is there a way of getting it blocked by Simtec.
Any chance i could ask the admin could sticky this post for a while.
Cheers
Mark

Attached is a picture of the ecu with serial number.

I think you have less than no chance of seeing that again, especially if the buyer has realised what he has got by mistake.Make the wife replace it

As far as I know without the correct profile, and a dongle it will be completely useless to him i.e. he won't be able to map it. Speak to your mapper, he'll clue you in.

Goodness I bet your house is not a happy one just now. I doubt you could block it from being mapped though as the software is freely available. Its more of a moral issue than a legal one really. Expensive mistake indeed.

Contact Steve Simpson @Simtek as the buyer will need to get access from Steve either directly or indirectly through a mapper using the ECU number.

as above i don't think you will be able to do anything after all it's your error. just going to have to write it down to experience and start saving again.

tell the mrs she has to make you any drink you want as soon as you ask for it as punishment for the next two years

Tell her to put her sexy gear on m8, Its was mistake take her down town drive around for a wail. Then drop her on the busiest corner and tell her not to come home till she has enough money for a new one.

What ****s me off is, if it was the other way round, if the person who now has the ECU had spent money on buying simtek and his missus had accidently sold it to you, I guarentee he would be doing the same as you.

****in ******!

Hope you do get it blocked mate!

So the person who happened to aqquire the Simtek can now not get it mapped anywhere at all?

If so, that is so sick!

Legally this is quite simple.........but difficult in practice.

The original contract for the Mines ECU (offer to chaffer, acceptance and consideration) leaves legal title of the Mines ECU with the buyer.

Ok, you sent the simtec in error but he has no legal title over "your" simtec ECU. His legal title to ownership is the Mines ECU.

Up to then it's basically a **** up...........and there are no real problems as things could be returned and swapped...at pot1175 cost as he made the mistake.

At this time pot1175 has legal title over the Simtec and the buyer has legal title of the Mines......

Then the buyer of the "Mines ECU" (mistakenly sent Simtec ECU) sells it on, knowing it to be actually a Simtec ECU ........at this instant the Buyer (to which the OP had the contract with) contrives to permanently deprive the owner of use and enjoyment of the Simtec ECU.................THEFT.

Basically he's nicked it off you

Maybe I'm wrong, but most people buying something would check it's correct when it's received, especially if it's getting sold on.

And even if it wasn't checked, the person who received it has knowingly taken something he hasn't paid for.

Name and shame................ they deserve to be outed, Stinks to me !

Man buys Mines ECU.
Man recieves simtec ECU.
Man tells simtec owner He's sold it on.

If this isn't what has happened I will eat my proverbial hat.

thats very true some poor sucker will end up buying a useless ecu in the future if indeed it is blocked.

hope it gets sorted dread to think of someone else getting ripped off due to sending the wrong thing in the first place.

if the ecu has gone to ireland have you checked with simon (jgm) to see if anyone has contacted him regarding mapping ? i know he travels over there to do group mapping sessions might be of some help ?

If the above comments are true re locking/barring then surely buying any second hand ecu is very risky. I assumed that if any mapper that has software can map any ecu.
Whats being stated is that anyone who goes to map Simtec has to contact Steve to get access? Just curiosity. I have Autronics and it has been mapped by 3 different mappers in the 4 or 5 years Ive had it, the different mappers didnt have to contact anyone else before hand afaik.
Sorry for the hijack just curious.

The mapping software for the Simtek is linked the the ECU, they are a matched pair. I don't have mine so I'm not 100% sure how it works. But you can only use your software with your ECU and this comes from Steve as far as I know.

If the tuner supplies the ecu then only he can map it unless he gives the access to another mapper, however if you buy the customer version of the software that is matched to your ecu then you can take it to the mapper of your choice

1) Wife owes you, BIG time!
2) Buyer should have returned it: the item is not what they paid for
3) Not sure about locking it as the person has already shown themselves to be lacking in integrity and will just sell the thing on Ebay to some other poor soul when they realise it's locked.
4) Wife owes you big time!

As it stands the buyer is adimant he sold it on & dosn't have an address for the person. Not much i can do there.
The contact number he did give me for this person still works but no answer, i have left loads of messages, explaining what has transpired over the last 24hrs with Simtek mappers ect. but no reply.
I do have a freind that is trying to get an address from the number i have, but will see how that pans out.
I'm under no illusion i fu*ked up, but can honestly say if it were me i would have returned it.
I know i won't see the ecu again, & have to start saving again.
I wouldn't have thought it will have been mapped, as it was signed for Tues lunch, i set the ball rolling Wed Am.
I totally agree that the ecu will get sold on to some un suspecting person.
But no way will i let this low life have an easy ride, & if i do get an address naming & shaming will be carried out to the enth degree,
