my wife has a 2001 gx wagen, they aint cheap ! it likes a drop of petrol bout 24-28mpg max, the clutch went at 50000 miles, bit lighter on pads and discs than the WRX, service costs are not a lot cheaper than the WRX,the tyres have done about 25000 miles and are wearing to point of change.
The tyres are 195 as opposed to the 215 on the wrx so bit cheaper
Belts due at same service schedule
It has been totally reliable, starts first time every time, never let her down

Hey dude, I've got a 2001 GX Sport.
I average 30mpg, a bit more on motorways etc, and a bit less if you put your foot down a fair bit.
Tax: £215 for 12 months, same as some turbos I THINK...
Insurance: I'm 22, live in a ****ty post code, and have all my mods declared. I'm paying £850 fully comp.
Servicing: Just standard really, every 12 months/10,000 miles.
Cambelt: Looking at around £200 for a change (every 60,000 miles)
Good luck, they're very solid cars. Not the quickest by all means, but they look the part and drive brilliantly. I love mine to bits.
Give us a shout if you need any more info on GX's/sports/non-turbo's. Can sometimes be hard to find info on them on here with all the turbo boys hogging the forum
