Classic, bug eye or blob eye??
My first post in here so be gentle.
Recently I have had a yearn to buy a scooby. I know nothing about Imprezas at all so thought I'd post in here to see what the experts say.
I have seen an 03 Sti, a 51 plate UK300?, a version 5 type R for £7750? and to be honest I like the 2 door classic face lift shape but wouldnt have a clue if it was cheap or expensive.
Give me a steer please. If you were to buy one what will it be. Budget around no more than 8k
Cheers

Depends on how long you were willing to the car for. The Type R would hold its value more than the others i would have thought, Plus classics are apparently more of a raw drive compared to a newage. Having only driven classics myself i couldn't confirm that.

drive all 3 and see which you like best..simple as that.
if you afford an STi personally ide go with that, much better starting point if you want to modify in the future..better brakes, suspension, engine etc..
nothing wrong with the wrx though if your just looking for a daily driver, as far as i know the bugeye has the strongest bottom end too so im told

as said depending on what you want from the car, i would go for a type r much more "RAW" compared to the newage cars. i would leave the uk300 as the other two are better base cars nd you will end up adding a few choice mods if the car you buy does not have them already fitted. the newage cars are much more refined, bit heavier above the waste level and can feel less fun to drive (imo) i have gone from a p1 to a t25 and i have to say there was something about the classic that i can not get from the newage car. best thing to do is go and drive the two and see what you think as it is you that will have to live with it
