Another Sti question!
Im off to go look at a sti tommorow. As i want one as a decent base for a project.
Problem being after speaking to seller im not too confident its an Sti. Although he is adament it is!
Things that are making me wary are
Its not a redtop engine
it has 2 pots
and some other niggerly bits dont get me wrong it looks a bag off death but only really want it for running gear engine etc i have a few spares to build it up with.
Any pointers would be great

If it was an STI Version 2 then itd be on an N registration at the very earliest. They were manufactured from September-October time in 1995, for the 1996 modle year. There wasnt a 'Version 1' though: they converted WRX Saloons and 'Wagons in 1994 and WRX Type-RAs in 1995. Both of these altered production cars retained their original model applied model numbers, so they wont help.
Its unlikely that an M registered car is an STI, but a quick look under the bonnet will reveal a Subaru Technica International plaque, with either an 'of 100' (with mention of the Acropolis Rally) or an 'of 200' number.
If it doesnt have this, then it isnt an STI; no matter what the vendor tells you.

One further point: if its white, has a roof vent and DCCD, then itll be a 1995 WRX STI Type-RA. This could be registered on an 'M', but its provenance is a little easier to establish, so I doubt that youd be asking.....
