Which Lowering Springs ?? ADVICE NEEDED !
right i cant afford coilovers so want a decent set of lowering springs, on all my previous cars i have always used eibach, the ride quality was good ( not too hard or soft ), they were good quality, they lowered the car just the right amount and never knocked or bottomed out ect
although some people have told me to try some other makes, but i dont want to buy any to find their crap and have the trouble of sending them back,
i had a set of apex springs on one of my old cars and they were always knocking, even with just me in the car, whereas my eibachs never bottomed out, even with a car full !
so what do you reccomend;
for ride quality ?
for price ?
for what weight they will take ( car full or not ect ) ?
for looks ?
just general advice needed really, cheers for help, nick
PS. pics would be great !

Teins on mine have a look in my garage
Cost me £110 delivered new off a guy on here, I think they are around £130 rrp. I use my car as a daily driver and dont find them too stiff, they helped to reduce the standard understeer and make the car sit better although I still think the front sits a bit high by a few mm depending what angle you look at

The Prodrive springs have more anti-clatter wrapping on them and they have a slightly different recoil/damping rate as well.
I would go for the Prodrive springs as even though they are more expensive they are acknowledged to be the best available for standard struts (plus make sure you fit the uprated front strut rebound buffers that you get in the kit rather than leave your old buffers in).
I will wait for the various contradicting answers telling me how wrong I am.

I think that they suffer from clatter at low speeds over potholes, speed bumps etc probably as they do not have enough of the wrapping I referred to.
I never suffered from any clatter at all whether low speed or not on the Prodrive springs, they actually improved the ride comfort and handling at the same time.
Just make sure whichever springs that you fit that you have a steering/suspension geometry alignment carried out at the same time as your alignment will be knocked out when the struts are removed.
This will be of further benefit and will really transform your cars handling.

The standard factory alignment is ok but when it is professionally setup you will notice the difference.

One other point
IIRC
Prodrive have TWO different spring Kits WRX spring Kit and STi Spring Kit (which take into the account of the different front end weights of both models) .
They are made by "Spring manufcturers" like Eibach etc with "Prodrives" own specification and not the makers spec.
if you live on a smooth race track or have really good roads, you shouldn't get "bottoming out" issues on the fronts, I did on my bugeye STi and removed the Eibachs and had Prodrive springs fitted, much better IMHO
If a WRX I'd consider Eibachs (if a good saving over the Prodrive WRX kit)
if a STi I'd really only recommend Prodrive STi kit
