How hard to get into 12's 1/4 mile?
Hi guys, had my car down at pod for the first time on sunday, ive not had much experiance with 1/4 miles so for a start i know my launches need a bit of work to get my times down but im just woundering how hard it is to get in the 12's and maybe below. On sunday my first run was 13.3 second was 13.5 and 3rd was a 13.4. I have a wrx type r v-limited with just a full decat and a hks pannel filter so its not very modded. So im thinking now, im looking into an apexi power fc so i can go for a fmic, a cone filter,a walbro, some headers and a good remap plus today ive started to strip off all the sound matting off the floor of my car. Should this lot combined get me into the 12's as this is what i want to aim for next year.
Cheers for any help, ellis.

one of my worries on the day was launching too hard and damageing something as i live up by north wales and santa pod is a long way from home. I know thats a risk you take but was always in the back of my mind. My car is prety much standard apart from decat so hopefuly with a few mods i will be quite easy in the 12's. I saw alot of imprezas there doing 14+ so dont think mine was bad for a first attempt.

You might want to practice more mate to improve your technique before spending.
That 60 ft time is a good place to start. Your car should easily do quicker than a 2 seconds 60ft.
Ive improved my time by nearly half a second since the first time I went!!
This is without doing any mods, so it just shows how much difference a bit of practice makes.

A good launch, and then a lot of attention to your gear changes. Banging off the limiter every gear change will slow you down.
How are you launching? Feeding the clutch in, or side-stepping it?

I find blipping the throttle about 4500rpm and launching you dont get bogged down, let the clutch bite while waiting for the green then on green let rip. Dont bang off the limiter, im getn 12.2s with a few mods altho after 200 odd 1/4mile launches ive killed the gearbox
