am i right in thinking
that the cheapest way to get more power from my 98 wagon is to get a td05 and a z4 ecu (which my 96wrx vlimited had) also if i fit my 3" decat downpipe to my car as it is would it need remap (tdo4 with s2ecu with 3"cat back exhaust) cheers j
my wifes has been running on a remap decat and increased boost to 1.3 bar settling at 1.2 and weve seen that on rollers @304 bhp the td05 will give you better touque and higher end boost but hers does ok and weve had it for 4 years and only killed gearboxes not engines by the way hers is still running a td04
define earlier wagons my wifes is an 98 uk wagon and not that much has been done but i wouldnt say the mods are exactly normal due to normal wouldnt have a bleed valve in the system but the wifes has not that i approve of that but for the past 4 years its been fine
92-96 have 4 pin ecus (such as the Z4) then late 96 changed over to 3pin.
TD05 have a 90deg elbow on them after late 96 the imprezas had front entry turbos so the TD05 will need converting

you will need an aftermarket ecu if you want to map the car.
you can change the turbo, exhaust, injectors to suit.
cheapest ecu you will find would probably be an apexi power fc.
all depends on you budget !
give simon - jolly green monster a call and he will be able to give you some good advice.

you need the ecu to match the turbo, for instance i have a spare STI ecu in my garage thats is configured to run with 440cc Injectors and a VF22 turbo, but it's not quite that simple.
i was wanting to put this on my old 98 uk turbo wagon but found after research that the engine is very different to that of the sti ie cams crank etc ...... and risked blowing the engine.
you also need to swap wiring for the loom as well as the cam and crank sensor wires are in the wrong position.
unfortionatly when it comes to v3/4 97/98 cars their is no short cut, you need an after market ecu if you want to produce more power.
