The cat and fiddle A537 Buxton to Macclesfield is a good run out, higly recommended

You can see for miles once you get to the top!! and they have a pub up there for lunch/refreshments

The A57 Glossop over Snake pass/woodhead towards Sheffield is good too, you can always stop off at Medowhall, its like a mini trafford centre, loads to do

Depending on your location I would recommend the Elan Valley in Mid Wales going through Rhyader towards Aberystwyth.

Stunning views of the Welsh countryside, resevoirs and the old slate mines, a cracking b road through the valley and stop in Devil's Bridge for lunch , into Aberystwyth and then back on the A44 back towards the land of the devil.

Delamere Forest is full of trees & has loads to do wi the family.

Cotebrook Shire Horse Centre is a good day out (look at t'interweb site for details) and is near to some stunning scenery... not to mention Oulton Park

Should take you about an hour to get to either

We get to Cotebrook from here in 1 hour 20 mins

Up in t'hills so scenery's good, Mrs Big Pete's a top cook (bacon butties & a brew not a problem) and there's a hose pipe in the garage to wash the car off in case it looks grubby!
