Which Scooby for £3k/£3.5k?
Hi folks,
it looks like a Scooby is very high on my list of cars to replace my E36 328i Sport in October when my insurance is due. I'm not really sure which I should be looking at right now.
I currently commute about 45 miles a day, and in the Beemer I've been averaging about 23mpg. I don't really want to go below that if I'm being honest, but I would like a bit more power/excitement from the next car.
Which models should I be looking at? I've mainly concentrated on post 97 WRX imports when looking around online. I also had an insurance quote of £821 on one. I'm 27 with 4yrs no claims when I renew.
Cheers

Well the BMW is on Eibach Sportlines so a pretty firm ride. One of the two garages it visited prior to MOT has also made it vibrate like hell so they've either knocked out the tracking or wheel balancing. An easy fix, but good preparation for something a little more hardcore :-D But nah, being serious, I want a Scooby or a Saff Cossie but don't think you can get a good Cossie in my budget anymore.

I commute 28 miles each way in a MY97 UK turbo. At 5am it is a 25 minute sprint on empty fast A roads and a 40 minute plod back at 6pm in the traffic. Average 22mpg on 95ron. Noticed no difference on 97 or 99, but checking again as have just fitted a Prodrive ECU, decat centre, silicone y pipe and Prodrive back box.

Mate i'd be looking at somthing else with doing a commute like that! Only reason i have a scooby is the fact i don't use it for work.Mind you you can't beat a scooby for the fun factor
Were abouts are you based? Have a look in my garage i might be interested in a P/X against mine in the near future as long as the price was right

All of the JDM cars will want super unleaded, this means even with slightly better mpg it will still cost the same or more per mile.
23mpg on 95 RON is at least equal to 25-6mpg on 98 RON in pence per mile.
