Default Hello :)

Hi all

I have just bought a 52 plate Subaru 2.0l non turbo (still hope I am welcome..lol) I did want a turbo but the insurance was outrageous.

I am very happy with the car and seems ok at the moment, just need to get it serviced and give it a good clean.

Site looks very good and im looking forward to browsing through it

Thanks Helen

Hi, and welcome to SN Helen.
The boys, and a few of the girls will be more than happy to help to give advice on the mods.
I am running a 99 classic turbo. No mods other than the exhaust system.
Have fun with your Scoob!

Will try and get some snaps if it ever stops raining

I think I must have different wheels too (I thought they were standard to the car...lol) reason being they are 18inch and gold coloured, they do say impreza on the caps but dont know if they are genuine wheels or not?

Would like to do something with the orange reflectors?/side indicators on the front wings as not really fond of them.

Helllooo

1.Fit a Borla manifold asap, best mod you can do with a N/A
2. Backbox.
Indicators are all over ebay.
Stick with the 18's (nasty 15" standard).

Saloon or Wagon? Pics needed!

Welcome Helen. All Subaru vehicles are welcome on Scoobynet! Try not to let the turbo Impreza boys make you feel left out

I've got a 2001 "bugeye" non-turbo, (also bought it cos turbo insurance was a joke!) which I've modded a bit, take a look at the link by my username.

If you're after advice specific to non-turbo's then take a browse through .:ImprezaSport.net:.. I'm a member on the forums there too and there's pages of information on modifying and maintaining your Impreza non-turbo.

As mentioned in another post, the single best mod I've done is to add a "Borla" exhaust manifold. This replaces your standard manifold beneath the engine and gives your Impreza that fantastic Subaru (turbo) rumble!

If you need any more info or advice, just message me. Cos I know it can sometimes be difficult getting information on non-turbos.

Tom

exterior mods, get rid of all the orange reflectors/indicators, some lowering springs and it will sit nice on them 18s, debadged boot, maybe an sti spoiler or somthing, front splitter

engine mods, exhaust manifold, full decat straight pipe with back box, induction kit maybe, not alot you can do with engine on a non turbo apart from the exhaust

Hi Helen, welcome to SN Wheels could be genuine Scooby items as I think they def. did an 18" gold wheel, but I'm sure someone on here will be able to confirm once pics are up.

Indicators / side repeaters... the orange ones are probably the first things to be changed, agree with you there I've got a '97 classic and did the same to mine (commonly called the de-tango mod), plenty of places to get replacement lenses from etc such as maybe here, or eBay (I got mine from eBay)

Hope that helps, enjoy the car!

Cheers

Pete

Welcome to SN.

Even though its a non turbo, you can still do alot of mods to it.

I'm currently making my gx look like a turbo, im in the same boat as you lol, the insurance was also totaly outrageous for me on a turbo.

Really appreciate the welcomes and advice

The rain has never let up today so fingers crossed be better tommorow and ill take some photo's.

Going to sound like I know what im doing here but i dont, its what iv been told...lol... the car still has the original stereo fitted but its faulty, I have quite a good stereo from my old car, do these car have standard ISO fittings or would I require a lead to convert it.

Many thanks as always

Helen

Stereo connectors are probably still Subaru's own ones - but Halfords do a convertor cable to change it to ISO standard, and your new stereo may come with another converter cable to change from their standard to the ISO standard, so that should get it working no probs. I installed a new stereo in every scooby I've had, and they all needed the (same) Halfords convertor cable, so I'll bet yours is the same. Trick is getting all that extra cable and connectors fed back into the stereo space! Also you may want to get a tray or something, if your existing stereo is double DIN and the replacement one is the 'normal' single DIN size

If you do get stuck put up a thread in the Ice section, there's a fair few masters of sound in there who can also advise on uprated speakers etc...

Cheers

Pete
