what are the management optins on V3 sti ?

what are the management optins on V3 sti ?
ok ive got a few parts to mod my scooby, aint done it yet as the ECU part of it is putting me off big time, i know theres power fc, that was my prefered but its no longer available and 550 quid for a old ecu with no chance of being repaired seems a bad idea to me,,,, though i could be wrong
theres the other ecu options that are around 1000 quid mark,,, all prices thrown about and thats all i know about them
whats the cheepest option for a V3 STI to get more power out of it, spending 1500 quid for a ecu and mapping seems alot tbh for a old car so wondering if theres other options i aint thought about yet ?
what about general aftermarket ecu's such as gems, autronic,omex, ect ect, stuff that works in other cars too, would that also work on a impreza or not ?
lets discuss what ELSE there might be and why we choose to ignore it ?
