Default scooby newbie

Hi guys, i am new to too the world of impreza"s but not to high performance car"s as i used to run an escort rs turbo then a saphire 4x4 cosworth and i still ride superbikes having just swapped my fieblade for a more comfy zed 1000 now im getting on a bit[44] .
I have just bought a 53 plate wrx in bright red,41,000 on it,full service history [main dealer] and its mint but could do with the engine bay detailing as i like them to look as good under the bonnet as they do on the outside i know that may sound a bit **** but that just me im afraid.
Now if any one can help what model is it because the more i read the forum the more i see ,
classsic
bugeye
jdm
bubble lens
hawkeye
what does it all mean guys ,i am told the impreza is pretty bomb proof in its standard form, why any one wants more power than standard scares me so what can i expect from my new pride and joy.
Don"t forget i am a bit green when it comes to the impreza"s.
Any feedback would be great .

cheera Phil.

Classic = First Impreza Shape 1993-2000
Bugeye = First of the newage 2001-2003
Blobeye = Second of the newage 2003-2005
Hawkeye = Final incarnation of the newage 2005-2007
JDM = Jap import of any age

Just guessing at the years but i won't be far off.
Don't be fooled into thinking your car is bomb proof. If you look after it then it "should" look after you

PS - Welcome

Welcome mate.

Its far from being **** as alot on here do exactly the same with their bays. Have a look in members gallery as their is some very detailed and nice looking engine bays. As for not wanting more power we'll see, i remember saying the exact same thing myself nearly 4 years ago now

Thanks for the welcome guys ,can someone tell me the difference between the wrx and the wrx-sti as as i am trying to insure my wrx and some insurance companies are saying to me that on the computer screen that the operator is procesing my quote on it is coming up as an sti model as shown on the DVLA database that they gain information to identify the car and can only quote on the information in front of them even though the log book says 2.0 wrx turbo sl .
Any ideas will be great.
cheers phil.

Try A Plan insurance they should understand, sti is a higher performance model and in most cases would cost more to insure.
