Whats the Maximum authorised mass of the caravan?

What year impreza do you have?

Tow bars... try ebay, i got mine from there, easy to fit yourself if you have a bit of car knowledge/multimeter

The good news is that I towed a 15 foot four berth a LOT of miles with mine.

Get youself a PROPER towbar, from a recognised dealer, have it fitted PROPERLY and buy the Scoob electrics kit, it plugs in and wires up in 5 minutes. Don't skimp, it's false economy

You don't need the detachable towbar, mine detaches with four bolts leaving the electric socket and two metal plates running parallel to the car (front to rear), about 6" long, showing, hardly anything. It is a Witter.

The bad news, and I DON'T think it's in any way related, since I haven't towed for four years now, is that my car suffered a big-end failure on holiday this year............probably an oil pump failure preceeding it

Every vehicle has max weights which it can tow. One weight if for an unbraked trailer and one for a trailer with its own brakes which is quite a bit more. I guess a caravan would be unbraked but do check that out. Log book may tell you towing weight - otherwise ask the Caravan club or even a Subaru dealer. Don't use an amateur for tow bar fitting. Happy road blocking!!!

Fine for towing up to 75% of the kerbweight of the car.

Reference Towbar - don't skimp on this vital item - I bought a Subaru Swan Neck removeable and the Subaru Electric Kit (Plug and Play).

So basically you cant tow anything over pretty much 1ton, which isnt much... You can legally tow 750kg witout it being braked, anything over that then it has to be a braked trailer.
