Default new to scoobies and will poss need help

hi all i have just purchased an sti on a p reg i got the car very cheap as the engine has a knocking noise and needs repair i have very good mechanical experience and am looking into doing this my self the car came with loads of goodies so as i am on a budget the idea is to sell all the extra stuff to help fund bringing this car back to life and to put it back to its original state anyway enough babbling for now hoping to get the advice i will need here to get this car done

If it is a complete engine rebuild, may i make a suggestion?
Go for the forged 2.1 stroker kit, everyone knows that once they have a scooby, they are going to be wanting more power and speed very soon. Best to get the preperations done now
Plus it's a bloody good engine and can see 500hp with the right turbo

thanks for the reply i am going to put this car back to standard ie original spec i have done a few restore jobs with cars before (bit of my hobby) just this is the first scooby and jap car i will have done

seriously mate... your getter off doing what the3 5tig said. the price it costs to re-build a scoob lump you mite as well make it stronger. as it WILL blow up again!

ok i have looked into this... new crank with full acl race bearings uprate oil pump using standard pistons and rods for the rebuild would this be ok??
