Default Car Tax question

I have just sold a 2003 Freelander 1.8 petrol that i had as a runabout. Tax reminder came today and its £220 for 12 months. I thought it was meant to be £400 now with it putting out 248 CO2 job!!

Just been on DVLA website. Any car registered after 2001 but before March 2006 goes in the £220 bracket no matter what emisions. Not that i am fussed anymore

depends on emissions. If the V5 states more than 225 co then it will be £405 under that and it will be the cheaper rate
