Are moderators supposed to show bias towards particular suppliers or is David paying you everytime you manage to get in a mention

They don't even sponsor a forum section.

Paul [ ns04 ] has been a customer here for about 3 - 4 years. Long before he became a moderator.

He is just expressing a customers viewpoint that he has been happy with what we do.

Your point has been well made - in this instance the fact that he is a moderator is neither here nor there. The comment about us bribing him is offensive and wrong, please withdraw it.

I dont think that it was a serious suggestion David..

Im happy to criticise Paul where its warranted, but I think that this is a little harsh. API are at the top of their game and theyd be a far better recommendation than, say, SC, in my opinion... David O'Brien would get my recommendation every time.

Look I obviously wasn't being serious about the bribery bit however being as you've been so quick to jump to his defence maybe there is a little more back scratching going on than we actually know about.

It's fair enough to recommend someone when you've had a good experience but Paul has become a bit of a broken record where API are concerned and often appears in the technical threads with the catch all "ring API mate, they'll solve all your problems". Just seems a bit OTT from a "figure of authority" on this board.

I'm sure your good, many recommend you, and if I ever buy another Scoob and need some engine work you'd be my first port of call. I would also recommend you to other based I what I've heard here.

That sounds awfull, and scares me, make it stop.

And as I'm only a member of this forum, I would recommend API. As my car has had a engine (4 years ago) and gearbox, (earlier this year), and hopefully tomorrow a set of headers from them.

Simple, anything I cannot do myself, it will go to API.

Good luck.

When i was a mod i'd get 50.00 for an engine reccommendation and worked on a sliding scale for other parts - David at API paid up quick as well.

He also does a good range of class A drugs and prostitues - male and female!

Needless to say i would reccommend them everytime.
(BTW none of the above slander is true)

Do a search on API, thy have a good rep on the whole

Pay Attention:- the Ayatollah speaks.

All hail the Ayatollah

That's probably got me my own private fatwah - ah well !

Let's hope the old guy drives a scoob, perhaps I can do him a 2.5 conversion and buy my way out of that one.

Wheres my post gone? I daresn't. SO many used engine purschses end in tears. Especially those bought sight unseen off eBay traders and a number of disreputable 'Japanese engine specialists' (both on and off eBay).

i brought it from a salvage guy in deptford (near Greenwich)

he had 2 ej205's 1 from and manual and 1 from a auto, so i went for the one from an auto because i figured less stress would have been put on a engine out of an auto.

whilst all his engines were in a warehouse on pallets and therefore could not be heard running, he has given a 3 month guarantee.

still had the scooby there that the engine came from, very sorry state rear quater was smashed to crap.

Are you certain that its the correct phase of engine? Automatics were very few and far between in 1999 model year cars. It will be a 240PS JDM engine if its from the correct year. Im concerned that its far more likely to be a 220PS phase one engine from a 'Wagon or earlier Saloon though...

You should have asked first.

i did ask in another thread in the tech section if all ej205 engines were the same and was told yes.

my car is a uk turbo so my current engine would have been a 220ps to begin with, right?

Yes, but they arent all the same. Had I seen you post Id have told you. There are a number of significant differences: ignition, ECU, inlet manifolds etc. Fitting an older engine isnt something Id recommend and its seldom cheaper, after youve downgraded all your peripherals. Id suggest that you ask in the technical section: or call API... Im sure that David will steer you in the right direction irrespective of whether youre able to buy a new engine off him.
