Think it's Primewell Tyres

Caitec Delta Limited in Ghana make them which is why they are not that well known here I guess.

I always go by the rule "Don't skimp on tyres or brakes". It's no good getting them for £50 a corner if they spit you off at the first wet bend.

They do some quite chunky ones that should last ages though.

Don't skimp on tyres. It's a false economy. Cheap tyres are okay on a runabout, but not a performance one.

I tend to Mix Crossply's & Radials on the same Axles, It's a real B!tch to handle, Especially in the Wet But makes you feel you have really achieved something getting it back in a straight line out of Bends

Tyres are your only contact with planet Earth, but some would rather spend money on stickers and flamers!
Made in Ghana from Wilderbeast foreskins?
Don't even think about using them!!! (might still have some release agent on them!)

To much information John.

Just the thought of a Wildebeest foreskin & a good smattering of release agent.

Wildebeest can corner quite well when a lion is snapping at their nadgers.

But only in the dry season.

Beggars belief that someone would consider fitting cr*p like that to a Scoob. Falkens are sh*te too.

I would say it's Darwinism / natural selection in action as they'll probably end up upside down in a field however there's the risk that they'll take out another road user or pedestrian at the same time

Falken 452 are very highly regarded and theyre currently popular with 911 owners on a number of forums. Falken are made/owned by Bridgestone. They may not be your favourite tyre brand, but they certainly are not sh*te.

Bollocks. There is nothing wrong with Falkens. Typical brand snobbery.

Falkens arent bad at all. Even Nankang arent toooo bad, if youre on a very tight budget: and youre aware of what youre doing. Certainly: there are far worse tyres available.

Budget tyres can be very good. Fulda are Goodyears 2-3 year old tread moulds and compound formulations, so they were top brand stuff until recently. Hankook are always very good, as are Falken and Federal. Nankangs are a bit crap, despite what people say. I have them on my Fabia and they have significantly less grip than the previous Hankooks and Continentals. I recently put some ATR Sport Achilles on the wife's Octavia as we fitted some 18's and they are surprisingly good for such a budget brand.

I agree with the whole "why buy budget tyres" thing for performance cars.

when the Goodyears F1 GSD3s on the front of my little 205 were borderline, I spent lots of time on websites like Tyre reviews, tests and ratings at tyre reviews - the online tyre guide and ended up getting a pair of Uniroyal Rainsport II's. Obviously totally different cars the 205 and a Scoob, but I swear they are the best tyres I've had on any car I've owned. May try them when I'm back into Scooby ownership, as I personally used to find the T1-r's a bit hit and miss in the wet.

Have never tried Falkens or Avons etc, but would never ever skimp on good tyres unless it was literally for a £200 banger getting me from A 2 B.

Remember having Kumho's on my old Wrx back in 2006, and they were awful

One thing that does get me is how you see so many performance cars with cheap tyres on places like Pistonheads etc... always puts me off unless a bloody good excuse is sufficed.

I did a full day on Rainsports in a mates Scoob a few months back. In the wet they are superb, giving almost dry levels of grip. However, in the dry I found the loads I put through tyres saw the narrow tread blocks squirming under load, reducing confidence especially under braking. There's the dilemma, do you go for a well grooved design with minimal tread block pattern which clears water well and gives plenty of edges to cut into the road, but generates a lot of movement under extreme dry loads and may wear quicker; or a minimal tread solid block design which will give poor wet grip, but be very stable under load ? This is why I ran two sets of wheels when I had my Scoob, winter ones with Toyo's (would have definitely got Uniroyals next), and summer ones with RE070's.

Feel free to justify your remark by quoting where Ive said 'fit them to a Subaru'..... Apparently: assumption is the mother of all f*ck-ups!

i have run rainsports and they are a really good tyre for a bottom end braded tyre , nankang are good for run of the mill cars and i have even run them on my scoob on a set of spare rims i had for about 6 weeks and tbh they held up very well , i would say they are the better of the economy branded tyres,

im on paradas at the min and i must say they are very good

ran toyos proxes before that also a really good tyre the new ones t1rs px4s ect are not as good .

before that i had goodyear eagle f1s and i didnt rate them at all tbh on the limit after 5k and not so good in the wet .

I'm gonna disagree with you there fella. I found the Rainsports the best tyre I've ever used, far better than any Pirelli/Continental/Michelin tyre I've ever used. Certainly wouldn't call them a bottom end brand tyre either, were £14 a corner than the equivalent T1-r at the time I bought them (£44 per corner for 195/50/15).
