Default max power on a classic sti gearbox

am wondering what people have got away with running on a standard gearbox, before changing to ppg, 6 speed etc to cope

I had a RA box in mine and it was fine when i sold it after 30+ drag strip runs at 413bhp/ 364lbs/ft

Think its just luck of the draw as i know alot of STI/RA boxes that havnt lasted with alot less power

I've got an ra box which is holding together with 420bhp through it, it gets some abuse aswell but perhaps i've just been lucky so far

Killed a TY752 cased 5 speed with 330/289. TY754 cased UK box thats in now has been fine for over 2 years, with a good few "give it death" launches, 50+.

Like Anger says, I think it's luck of the draw.

My TY754 /P1/ Sti V casing handled 450BHP/380 ft lbs of torque ok - don't do drags though. Changed to 6 speed eventually for future proofing

won't be dragging, a six speed is on the cards but funds don't allow straight away, just be nice to use it properly in the mean time

the 5 pseed in my p1 held out for 2.5yrs at 330lb before the std clutch went and the box was starting to show signs of wear so replaced it with a 6 speed
