Impreza Turbo and Caravans
Now, call me Pikey Pete if you want to .... but, does anyone on here tow a caravan with an Impreza Turbo?
If so, how is it? What caravan weight? and any issues?
I have a towbar and have towed everything except a caravan .... went to see some last week and am thinking of buying one, towing it somewhere and leaving it there (but moving it now and again) - don't want to kill the Scooby is all ....

Foresters lose too much money, I'm afraid.
What my main concern is that, when I tow my Folding Camper, the rear tyres rub on the inside of the wheelarches .... I have checked the noseweight time and again, it still does it. The rear of the car is clearly very near the bump stops in that case - I'm thinking that a caravan may be worse in this respect?
And, Bioforger, my street cred disappeared many moons ago

I think it should be ok mate.
I have seen one pulling a horse box ( with 2 horses in ) and it seemed ok.......? Although I wouldnt like to try stopping that weight with standard brakes !!
You just need to share out the weight in the caravan - and stop all the weight being on the back of the car ( put weight at the back of the caravan ).
If your wheels are rubbing - maybe try some stiffer springs?

I do! (awaits flaming).
2006 WRX wagon (2.5).
Van is only 1200kg-odds but is right at the recommended limit for this model (weirdly, since the lesser models are rated at 1400+ (from memory)).
Makes a great tow car (in fact I think it won some tow car of the year competition around 2006) as the suspension controls movement well, you have plenty of torque and 4wd stops you chewing up the grass around the campsites.
And it's great out-dragging John Q Citizen from the roundabout when he pulls out to overtake that thar pesky caravan.... and can't!

It's a german Fendt - approx 18ft so not a huge van.
No issues with tyres rubbing at all - but you make sure the nose weight isn't too high to avoid that (it should be 50-75kg approx).
1200kg was the limit in the manual for 2006 WRX - no idea about earlier or later models. As I said the base model impreza has a higher towing limit for some reason - approx 1400kg from memory?
