How easily tune'able are they on standard internals?

What can they handle safely before internals need to be upgraded?

And what mods will they need to reach it?

Cheers

from what i hear not a great deal, was thinking of putting one in my 2003 wrx as i broke my engine but have been told by someone i full trust that a rebuild would be the better way to go and for the price would handle alot more power that the 2.5 std engine

Try putting the thread in 'general technical' might be better or ask 'Tony Burns' (I do) hes got 1 and seems to have answer to most subjects.

400bhp is easy to get from one of the jdm 2ltr twin scroll units, 360bhp/380+lbs is also very easy to obtain (and cheaper than doing it on a uk car )

Can't remember who (ducks the slap) but there is one jdm 2ltr twin scroll engined car running over 500bhp on standard internals on here

380 on a 2ltr?? I wouldn't have thought that would be "that" cheap. The 2.5 has bags more torque but usually less overall power?

At a recent rolling road day a load of the guys had tuned 2ltr cars (not jap though so maybe it's the twin scroll) and even though 2 of the guys had uprated turbos (and uprated everything else) and close or more than 400 hp they were still only getting 350-360lbft.. My STI has had a remap induction kit and fuel pump and straight through exhaust and although only 330hp its running 390+ lbft,

With a turbo & front mount I would expect 400 and 450ish? Although I would imagine the engine wouldnt last long without being strengthened.
