Default hole in engine, not happy

yep as the title reads i was looking at my injectors yesterday, and realised i had bought the wrong ones of ebay so put the original one back in and it started fine. carried on tinkering ie changing brakes. started up again when my mate came round and there was a knocking noise turned it off and took the injector out again to make sure nowt had fallen off, it was intact so put it back in checked the engine to see if owt was catching and nothing so started it up again to see what was wrong. by the time i shut the door and got to the front of the car a bit of metal shot past my head and hit the garage. looks like the rod connecting the cam to the piston has snapped and gone through the top left of the block. nowt ive caused though i've think and i've been told the same by a number of people.
so the new engine has got to come a bit sooner than planned for.
just waiting for my mate and his trailer, luckily it happened at home.

pics to follow when the mice powering my internet connection wake up again lol

quite possibly that is the only thing i can think of that air got in fuel line releasing fuel into one of other cylinders as no fuel appeared to go in the one i took off

When you remove an injector all the fuel in both fuel rails pours into that cylinder.
But if it ran ok after refitting then bottom seal must have failed whilst running etc
