gems ecu on 2003 sti
Hi all i am new here and thought it the best place to get some info and have a look at some more nice imprezas
i have just traded my 1996 sti for a 2003 jdm sti the car is running just over 400bhp on a gems ecu with launch control and anti lag but its a bit much for normal road use so want to replace the gems ecu with the standard ecu, does any 1 know can i simple remove the ecu and launch , anti lag controls and put the original 1 back in, will it reset itself or do i need to get it mapped???

You will need to have the standard ECU remapped because they wont make 400bhp on standard parts, probably uprated injectors and turbo to make 400bhp, and no its not worth running it with out it being mapped, wont do the car (or engine) any good though on a plus point, its not exactly expensive to have either the GEMS remapped or the standard ECU remapped (about 600 quid for an ecutek remap).

Just get Bob Rawle to "de-tune" it for you by remapping the GEMS.
The original owner might have removed the MAF and is running off the MAP sensor so swapping the ECU not the easiest.
