Talking More power

I have recently bought a 2005 sti with pro dive performance pack. Its meant to be running at roughly 300bhp. What would be a novices first steps to adding more? what parts are best and how much will this incease the performance? is there a technical manual i can buy/download?

Get in touch with a good mapper and get the ECU tweaked as without doing anything to the car I bet you get at least 30bhp more out of it

As above. The prodrive pack can be hit and miss. A mates 06STi ppp was recently dyno'd at 291 BHP, and it should have been 316BHP. It's now been mapped by JGM and is now running around 345BHP with no further mods, and is a totally different car to drive.

Who are JGM and where are they based? Do you know how much a remap costs and what it involves?

Really depends how much ya wanna spend. I have the same motor and started off with a new filter, full system de-cat, and a remap from scoobyclinic. The 1st initial map is quite expensive because you have to pay for the license, but once thats done you can get a map for around £250. Expect to pay around double that for the 1st map though. This saw my reach 345bhp which made a big difference. Be carefull tho as modifying become addictive lol
