Water pump Woes

Water pump Woes
Hi,
29k miles- My Forester 2.5 XT out of the 3 year Warranty by 3 months and the Water pump seizes solid.
Good News was that the drive belt didn't break, but I still needed a new belt, all the idlers and tensioners+pump.
I spoke to the Dealer who wasn't interested, and then to the main Subaru Customer Service, who just said "Tough-Out of warranty-No Hope."
Is there any point in pursuing this with Subaru, or do I pay up and look big.
I'm not happy with Subaru , but I love the car.........
