Hi all.

I have a blobeye WRX and I can only open the boot with the lever located in the car. I cannot open it with the drivers key. Any ideas?

 

Lol does it have a lock ?

 

Yeap - it has a place for the key on the boot.

It's just that when I turn the key clockwise, the boot doesn't open. However, I can open it from the inside of the car with the lever.

 

Wrong key or catch is broken, should just pop open.

 

I've tried with the same key that starts the car. Should there be a different key?

The catch doesn't seem to be broken. I managed to move the lock mechanism with my finger up and down. Its just that the key doesn't fully turn clockwise in the lock. Very strange.

 

Flip the "kiddy catch" on the side ?

The "kiddy catch" is to disable the lever next to the driver as opposed to disabling the key in the lock.
The same key should operate the ignition, drivers door and boot.
What's the history of the scoob? Have you spoken to the previous owner?
I would suspect that the lock has been changed from the original matching set.
Has the boot lid been changed to fit a non standard spoiler?
Has the original lock failed/been drilled out?

 

Your car has had an STI spoiler fitted. Due to the increased weight it is necessary to fit stronger springs to keep the lid from falling on your head. Many who perform this change swap the whole lid, as the mounting holes are different between the 2 spoilers. Unless you change the lock over, you will be left with seperate keys for boot and ignition. Hope that makes sense. Bob
