Also when in 5th on a private road! im sitting at 6200 revs the speedo is at 109 mph,but not struggling, still more to go., so ??? does that mean i gonna blow up how much more should it have. im too scared that ill blow it.> what should they go upto? it runs well has 55900 miles Genuine few mods as posted on profile some one please help!!!

An STi should have a carbon strut brace, alloy bonnet (very light) silver slanty intercooler, sti badges on grill and front wings, sti stitching on seats, red stitching on steering wheel and gear ****, might have i/c water spray.

Sounds like you might have an RA with the gearing, they only do 120 ish top end.

Setting the gain will alter when the turbo will come on boost, be very carefull when altering it!

What ecu do you have (6K is STI and 7k is STI 2 RA iirc) plug colour doesn't matter as both STI and WRX ecus have yellow.

The 7 digit "applied model" code found on the vehicle identification plate inside the engine bay is decoded in the following way.
1.Series code G=Impreza S=Forester B=Legacy etc.
2.Body type F=Wagon C=Sedan
3.Engine type 8=2.0L Turbo
4.Year code A=MY93 B=MY94 C=MY95&96 D=MY97 (facelift) E=MY98 F=MY99 G=MY00
5.Number of doors 2=2 door coupe 4=4 door saloon 5=5 door wagon/hatch
6.Model type 8=WRX 7=RA type E=Sti D=Sti Type R & RA
7.Transmission D=5 Speed Manual AWD P=4 Speed Automatic AWD

May help.

all scoobs out the factory have internal gates.
Post up the applied model code and we can tell you everything about your car including the gear ratios it left the factory with.
