Default The racing line ???

Too cut a long story short, a friend of mine and I have had a bit of a debate regards mappers - As I will be getting a remap soon from JGM, he told me to give The R line a go, but ive never heard anyone on here use them or highly rate them as much as JGM

He explained that Matt at The Racing line is S*** hot with subarus as well as evos and will make a powerful and driveable road car being reliable at the same time

I would like to know how many of you have used him and are you happy with the way the car drives

any views on them?

Same as above.

The Evo boys love TRL, and their RR. But for Impreza's I've not really heard anyone using them to be honest.

Unless your mate has used JGM and TRL, I doubt he can say who is better. What are his reasons etc? Like you said, JGM is highly recommened on here, and there must be a reason for this......

JGM is visiting me on the 3rd June

I've seen some RR printouts of their Subaru efforts, and was just a little "surprised" at the figures obtained, for the level of mods done.

I haven't used them myself, but a guy with a Subaru they claimed had 377 bhp thought mine was "quick" at only 390-ish.

From my experience, I would say that the JGM is thoroughly recommended, whilst not questioning anyone else's abilities or efforts.

imho you pay for the mappers experience, and very few people have ever questioned Simon's work, to the best of my knowledge.

Only ever bought something once from TRL, never again.

Charged me £15 for TNT delivery and sent it Royal Mail unrecorded. Postage they paid was all of £4.

I wouldn't have been that bothered, but when it was a £400+ Apexi Power FC lets just say they won't ever get any money from me again.

..if the reputation of TRL was without doubt on MLR then it might be worth giving them a go, but when people on MLR suck their teeth at claims it doesn't paint a good picture to me.

There are plenty of good mappers experienced with Subaru's in the community who have had nothing but good things said about them.. I don't see the need to take a risk really.

*Edited to say: Wow, even I'm getting annoyed reading that MLR thread!*

Hello all,

What can I say to the whos better than the other.... you just cant, everyone has there own way of mapping. I have heard great things about JGM mapping subarus and would not hesitate to use him if needed.... I would say its personal preference and whos given the best deal.

I am TRL customer and can inform you that Matt@TRL maps many scoobys... infact i have never been there and not seen one in his workshop. He maps many Imprezas for a couple of tuning companies actually... Just some shots of TRL's new premisis:

This is a Britcar... Race teams also use the likes of TRL for mapping.

All I can say Juice is... only you can decide who you want to use and with both the tuners names mentioned I dont think you can go far wrong

Kind regards,
GUM

Just my 2p - I've been to JGM twice, and I'm going back there again when I need some more mapping done

The map is spot on, and he appears to care greatly about his work.

Ive not used TRL but after reading the whole thread the figures must be close to whats claimed, he also seems to know his stuff(Matt) so maybe its as it seems,
If he had been doing dangerous or unsafe maps they would have shown up pretty quickly, NA you get away with more but forced induction is a balancing act , he seems to be doing ok out of it looking at the workshop and cars he tunes.

Szubz is a really good guy... his car was not capable of over 470ish before due to turbo however when he comes out now it should have over 500 As far as I am aware his car was not 500 before but it was in the garage now for some more horses.

Kind regards,
GUM

Banny some nice graphs there... a version 3 with that sort of power must make for a brutal experience

What turbo do you run? is it an md321? what are the differences between both graphs? fuel? boost?

One of Matts personal day to day car is a wrx which he runs with stock internals but a few tasty mods.. goes like stink He has a closed deck block ready for a build that will be going ahead soon

a 650 hp civic which goes like ****e on a shovel:
YouTube - Civic EF 650 bhp Project From The Racing Line

my evo 410/400 on stock internals... with nice flameage:
YouTube - Evo X Remap, Flames, TRL T3X Exhaust System

The top two graphs are for closed deck 2.5 engines running an MD321T+, the top graph is for a newage car with vvt heads @ 1.5 bar boost and the second one is classic sti 5 running 1.8 bar boost.

The sti 3 is a 2 litre engine running a standard position GT30 hybrid at 1.7bar boost and 10% methanol. You're not wrong when you say its brutal

The newage is being upgraded at the mo by Pennien Subaru and will run a GT35/42R and the sti 3 will follow after that with a 2.3 stroker but not decided on the turbo yet

Boost graphs for the two classics, the newage was purely mapped on the road and figures are from the road dyno.

The box problems are something we evo owners have to put up with when pushing high power yes it is in there for that too... from what I remember with the new power it had box issues so depending on when you spoke to him it could very well have had 500 horses. I have not spoke to subz for a while so my info may not be that accurate.

Thanks,
GUM
