There are plenty of insurance companies who will insure on the chassis number. Tell your client to find an insurer who IS interested in his/her business.

A client's car needs registering but their insurance company won't insure on the chassis number and with no proof of insurance it can't be registered.

Do they either change insurance companies or will another company provide a cover note till the car is registered???

cheers

Dippy,

I think a lot have been stopping this due to the importing business taking off. I think they used to be happy to do this when the chances are the car was in the uk, but now most of them are coming from abroad they are less happy.

S,

I cant comment its not something I expressly can help with. Although I suggest you need to track back through the threads on importing and insurance, there is a mailing group or something somewhere as people have raised queries like this before

Cheers guys, I am going to recommend my client changes their insurer.

DVLA indicated that 95% of insurers will insure on the chassis number.
