Question

I'm currently running my UK car on normal UL 95 RON but am considering changing to SUL 98 RON. How do I go about making the ECU "see" that I'm now using SUL? Also on the subject, would putting octane booster in the tank make the car happier?
This thread has probably been done before but I must have missed it, so any advice would be appreciated.

There a various ways of doing this, including doing nothing .

The ECU learns and will pick up the fact you have better fuel.

There are various other ways of doing this as well.

Fill up with SUL disconnect the battery for an hour and then it should have reset the defaults and will pick up the SUL. (note this could mean reseting alarms and entering the code on your stereo)

You dealer can also reset them through a select monitor but best to do this during a service.

There is more advise on

you can run sul with out a problem even with octane booster. and you should certainly notice a difference. as for letting the ecu know it will sort it out in the first 20 secs of start up.
good luck.

gordon

just fill her up and run her it will sort its self out
one of the guys usually runs 150 miles ul then 150 miles sul and he hopes the ecu will set itself in between the two so that he gets the best from the two.

I run just normal unleaded - normally. However, when it's a track day coming up, I put the previous tank's worth with SUL, run SUL for the track, then fill up with normal stuff for the return home.

No probs encountered.
