Question ECU question

Hey guys,

I've got an MY00 fitted with a PPP ECU.The car itself is not a PPP from the factory.

Now i've been told by a few people now that the Prodrive ECU does not like the exhaust being de-catted..which my car is..both downpipe and centre section.

Now am i right in saying my car 'Should' be pushing out around 250/260bhp? ie by just plugging the PPP ECU into a standard car does it automaticaly boost the power? I want a remap which ideally is the solution but can't yet afford it OR just fit a standard ECU?

Does the standard ECU like being de-catted???? I know after owning 4 scoobys now any mod should be mapped etc but surely the PPP ECU has the higher tolerance for knock that i need given by the de-cat? I don't want to drop 30/40 HP just by changing to a standard ECU! My last WRX had 320 and mine feels slow as it is

Help please Maybe if anyone local to me(north west) with a standard ECU wants to swap over and see if we can both benefit.

Thanks

Isn't your ECU one of the final JECS jobbies befor they moved over to Denso for the newage ??

Hopefully JGM or similar will step in and help

Alan,

As said in my previous thread, I at first thought my classic had PPP ECU, now I know it hasn't! Believe it or not, I have seen 3 PPP ECU's fetch close to £400 on ebay in the last 6/7 weeks. My suggestion would be to buy a standard ECU off a breaker or ebay which I have seen go for as low as £20! Sell your PPP ECU on ebay (they really do fetch as much as that!), then get the likes of JGM to map the standard ECU for you. Will be a much cheaper remap option than before!

Seen your for sale post mate, didn't want to mess it up, but wanted to say:
That it won't fit a 98. You have put 98-00. Its 99 and 00 only.

I sold mine on ebay ages ago. Put it up for 270 or best offers, had loads of people offering less 150, 170 etc. Then someone bought it at full whack!

I wouldn't do what that bloke on the link has done, started it at 300, thats all of its money.

If you put it on the bay, I'd suggest doing the Buy It now, with a best offer. You wont get a the sort of money you want on here, so I'd say source the standard ECU separate.

I stand corrected. Someone had put a bid at 300! Surely they can't go for much more.
