Default Quick rack part numbers?

Hi,

Im in the market for a quick rack from something like a 98 STI RA.

If i cant source one its going to have to be replaced with a normal STI rack to see if i can fix this strange steering problem.

Thanks
CHris

Me again..

Have you tried asking David at API..? Strangely enough I had a 13:1 quick rack fitted to my WRX the week before rockingham- that's why I couldn't get to grips with the skid pan..

IMHO, certainly worth it on my car, just added that extra precision and weight to the steering.

Don't forget to factor in a geometry check after swapping the rack..

yeah yeah thats why :P u needed to counter steer more :P

Yeah geo check is cheap enough. I did rockingham with my faulty (i think) rack, but on the road and track at donny its all over the place. no stability under braking turning etc. Changing things one by one.

Figured id go quick rack. i dont like the STI rack as its far too light. Need a second hand one tho, not gonna be spending a shed load on one.

Need the part no's so i can check the ones on ebay that pop up to ensure they are correct.

At the same time, does anyone do refurb kits for these?

Mine weren't that expensive TBH, once you factor in the geom check..

I take it you've checked/considered the ball joints/wheel bearings..?

yeah ive had a good look at everything. Pretty sure its the rack. Its either that or the wishbone bush on the driver side where the ALK would go.

However, sometimes the behviour of it sometimes is pointing at the rack.

Will do the rack, if that doesnt fix it. i got full suspension on the way and hoefully alk arbs from cdf racing which should fix it.

Rack is only gonna change the toe so i should be able to get it almost perfect. 25 quid down local garage will get it perfect. Had a full geo setup done the other day so i know the rest is bang on.
