Default sorry bhp question

guys in a week or 2 my cars back on the road and if i dont sell it iwant to have some subtle mods added.

the intention is a simple 250 bhp anything over is just a bonus.

all i have is a cat back ss exhaust, and forge bov.

i believe there 215 as standard for 99 uk turbo

what is the cheapest and safest way to up the power?

i was thinking fmic
decent air filter
and decat
and maybe a touch of boost?

You dont need a fmic, stick with the tmic, air filter = yes, none oiled though, decat = yes, remap = yes, prob 260-270bhp
Oh and I would upgrade the discs and pads also

650 for a remap, and k&n, STI, green etc, you will know if they are oiled or not if you touch them

Go for it then but it will cost you more in the long run, brakes on the older WRX's are 2 pot, yours are 4 pot and the 4 pots aint brill, imagine what 257bhp and 2 pots feel like over 215bhp and 4 pots

I'll vouch for that, my WRX is running standard 260bhp with the 2 pots n seriously my wifes 1.2 8v punto stops better! Had quite a few bum clenching experiences!

my 99 uk turbo is currently about 280bhp...

fast flow cat (100 cell)
mid decat
rear sports box
k&n induction
uprated fuel pump

and an all important REMAP

don't bother doing any mods if you don't intend to get a remap, if you dont get a remap your ecu will just be confused and will set paramters to default and you will notice very little difference.

with the mods listed above BEFORE remap my car was peaking at 230 bhp (up 15bhp from standard) AFTER remap 280 bhp

so what i am trying to say is ge a remap lol
