Ok, so I've seen a 5 door Turbo.98/S 20K miles.FSSH, in Reddish Blue.pretty much unmarked.

dealer asking £15995.

I may consider p/x ing my Sport 98/S 35K over selling it privately, although I know I'd get more, but can I do with the hassle?.

What kind of deal do you think I should get here?£15995 sounds a little ambitious to me, but I'm no expert.

As I'm not familiar with the Turbo's, what kind of grremlins should I be looking/listening for?
I'd be grateful for any constructive opinions.

Cheers
Steve

Subaru dealers take little or no notice of the current used car situation (Unless you are trading in a car of course!!)

Seems a little (lot) pricy to me, especially when you cosider the last of the old shape cars were being sold off for £18,995 a few months back.

Even brand new that car would only have cost £20K so it has only lost £4K in 2.5 years!! Maybe you should point that out to the dealer!!

Cool

I have a dealer friend that took an S reg silver 5 door with PIAA's leather & A/con in for £11.5K similar mileage and that was a about 3 months ago. He sold it the same week for 13,995!

I'd be surprised if the dealer paid much more than 11K if that for it! I'd be pushing for around 12,995!

Red face

i'd say they are hoping big time to get that for it....esp if you go in as a cash buyer.

my local dealer had a brand new unregistered old shape on the forecourt 2 weeks ago in mica red for £18995.00 !

i'd say you should be looking for at least 2k off that price ?

have you compared other dealer prices in your area ?

Talking

I was led to believe in a recent thread that I would only be able to sell my 13 month old MY00(V) 8000 miler, perfick condition, FSSH etc for £15K'ish

A tad overpriced then, I believe

PS wanna 13 month old MY00(V) 8000 miler, perfick condition, FSSH etc for £16K???

Thanks for the advice.I guessed the price was somewhat overstated.Anyway, I'll put some numbers forward and see how far I get.

Thanks for the offers of cars for sale.I'm actually after a 5 door, and was planning to wait until I can afford to go for a new MY01, but saw this one advertised.I guessed it'd be a cheaper way to get into the Turbo arena, initially.

Any more thoughts from BBsers on the asking price would be welcome. Also, any ideas on what I might get for my MY98 Sport, both privately and p/x.

Cheers

As an example of the sort of markup they're putting on this car - I recently traded in my 96P 200SX. I got the bare trade price for the car (£7K), and it's now on the forecourt for £9600. By this reckoning, I expect they paid about £11,500 for the scoob. I wouldn't pay more than £13,000 for it at the absolute most, and preferably much nearer to £12,000.

If the garage won't play ball, take a look through Top Marques. Out of the 100's of scoobs for sale in there, there's bound to be quite a few sellers who will.

Regards,

Gary.
