It's a real shame.... it's the ultimate punishment isn't it... but what a stupid idiot nun-the-less... on a plus, at least he didn't kill anyone else as well.
Just 24 hours earlier he'd been bailed for the same act (same car maybe?)..

Sad waste of a young life, but if you conduct yourself in a criminal manner, you can't expect much sympathy when you come a cropper! Feel more sorry for the family and relieved that no-one else was hurt by his antics.
I don't understand how he was in a position to nick his dad's car not 24 hours after being down the nick to answer a charge of TWOC?!?! Still, bit redundant now I guess!

he was'nt acually racing at the time of the accident??? it was some time later trying to get away from the cops. its a real shame that he has paid the ultimate price
the aftermath of crashes like this should be shown to ALL new drivers as part of thier test, this would (hopefully) make some think twice. the only down side is that 99% of 'joyriders' have never taken lessons never mind thier test the fact that he was bailed a short time before this incident just go's to prove that the justice system in this country has zero deterant im sorry if some disagree but these scum should be arrested taken round the back of the cop shop and given a good kicking maybe then they might think twice!
BTW my thoughts go out to the family at this sad time

he was at the time of the accident being chased by the police (Chase -to follow rapidly in order to catch or overtake; pursue: ie. chased the thief.)
sometime before he was seen (allegedly) racing a subaru (A race is a competition of speed to a specific point. The competitors in a race try to complete a given task in the shortest amount of time.)
so...he was being 'chased' and was if you wish 'racing' (moving at speed) to avoid capture
The point i am trying to make is that he was NOT at the time involved in a race with another car, in competition!
But i am sure, as in most cases the 'media' will report this in a way that the guy in the subaru will be, in part, responsable for the death!
And what do you think 'joe public' will think of this? 'Bl**dy subaru drivers racing around everywhere'
The insurance companys? 'subaru involved in another crash' increase premiums
The government? 'this goes to prove that we need more speed cameras and while we are at it lets invent a high performance tax'
the thread title should have read 'Tw@t crashes a merc into a lamp post while being chased buy the fuzz'
Steve (who does not want to be tarred with the same brush)

a) Not legally old enough
b) Therefore not qualified
c) Therefore not insured, taxed etc...
d) Doing nearly twice the UK motorway speed limit on non-motorway roads
e) Running from the police
d) Oh and to top it all off he'd nicked the car!

oh well, one less ******** on the roads. or at least would have been 'on the roads' if he was old enough.
just good to hear he didn't crash into some law abiding driver and ruined their car and cost them money. or in this case maybe scarred them mentaly seeing this moron flying through the air and splatting himself on a road sign.
**** all sympathy i'm afraid. but plenty of sympathy towards those he's left behind to live with his actions.

If the press blame the cars, it's the height of stupidity, as the real issue here was the driver, who was:
a) Not legally old enough
b) Therefore not qualified
c) Therefore not insured, taxed etc...
d) Doing nearly twice the UK motorway speed limit on non-motorway roads
e) Running from the police
d) Oh and to top it all off he'd nicked the car!

my point exactly Tony i think the 'link' would have been made if the subaru and merc were spotted together hours before and what will happen to the 23yr old if he has stolen the car? £20 fine and 6 points on a licence he does not have
