From: Slowly rebuilding the kit of bits into a car...
Trev's o.k. I've spoken to him several times, but I can blow my std STI engine without needing nitrous.
The real issue is young driver's driving standards and risk taking....
Not enthusiasts fitting nitrous for drag racing.
imho
And Trev wouldn't sell a 100 bhp kit to fit to an 850 mini, it's not in his long term business plan to blow up customer's engines. If they get greedy later that's their problem.

Inexperience and power are a dangerous combination, the problem is the even bog standard cars have come on over the Years but people are still people.
Young lads and Lasses will drive the nuts out of a car.. we all did it when younger, I know I did.... but today even small hatches would out perform most of the the cars that I grew up with as a lad. And I managed to crash them to!!
Add Nos or mods and dont do anything about the rest of the car is asking for it..... Suspension, Tires, Brakes and the list go's on.. OK if you have the Money and somewhere to practice safely then ok but judging by some of the retarded driving I have witnessed in Bridgwater that ain't happening.
If they ever change the rules a simple power to weight limit on cars for young drivers would sort that problem out..... rolling road test compulsory on modified cars if owned by under 25.

I would say the reporter has a rather large chip on his shoulder
Trev: i dont know anybody who is being put in any more danger than.....
Reporter: what about the family on the motorway with the boy racers coming up behind them
My response to reporter: what about the repmobiles that do not stand out in a crowd that tailgate at 70mph+ in heavy traffic
The AA must need a few new members or something...

From: Northants. 22B sold, as-new Lotus Omega instead.
Give 'em all a gun and send them to Helmand province!
Hasn't the AA got better things to do with the money I pay them than waste it on this rubbish? I might not be renewing my subscription this year if this is how they spend it.

*ucking do gooders
extra 200bhp my ****.
You can go out at 17 and buy any car you like so why would modifying a slower car make any difference
Tighter controls on what under 18’s or 20s can drive would make more sense
Will be taxed by the BHP next

I did a fair bit of driving over the weekend and what alarms me (and I don't mean to be sexist in any way) is the young girls, probably back and for to Uni or whatever, in their little 1.0 106s and Corsas parked in the fast lane, oblivous to the world around them.
I'm driving a reasonable sized Audi A4 and they hair up behind and past and I'm doing 80. In an accident at 95-100 a 106 is a coffin on wheels, well any car is but these little cars won't behave very well with direction changes and heavy braking.
My RA on the motorway is a royal PITA at anything over 80 so I just pootle along at 70. Had some throbbing end in a Civic buzzing round me looking for a race so I guess they have a point - within reason.
The power to weight idea is good but the government would put restriction on engine size and completely ignore the rules of physics.
I love the comment on the website, its OK to fit NOS to a Ferrari or a Jaguar - What? Who the bloody hell writes this snot!
I think it is more down to the drivers than the cars. I try and drive within my limits and the limits of my car but sometimes i am amazed at the cars that i struggle to catch. I have been behind a fair few modded corsa's, civic's, 106's and the like and the drivers just seem as though they would do anything just to prove that there car is faster even if it means putting other road users at risk. At this point i normally just leave them alone could more than likely get in front of them easily but you just never know what they will do next.
Most cars today will do in excess of 100mph. You don't need nitrous to kill yourself in a car. Its just another thing that the do gooders have got their teeth into. If they put laws in place to stop us modifying cars I swear I'll bloody emigrate.
When I was younger one of my friends had a 1.4 saxo which was totally standard and he drove like a complete tw*t. He managed to crash it 4 or so times before he sold it and got something else. I had a 1.6 saxo which was modified and I was and still am a fairly responsible drive. I only do 30 in 30s and 40 in 40s, its only if i get to and open quiet country road that I put my foot down.
Now tell me is it the car that is dangerous or the person behind the wheel. These people who die racing etc on the roads would more than likely do the same thing in a standard car as they would in a modified one but i don't hear them trying to ban all cars on the road because some people are idiots.

I chuckle to my self when the dude in fast and the furious hits the nos and the floor pan falls out of his Mitsubushi eclpise
Better to use it in surgery and dentistry for its anesthetic and analgesic effects though

In australia where cars dont cost so much and insurance isnt a requirement and petrol isnt so expensive you get 17 year olds in 6 litre V8 RWD utes with no weight over the back wheels
and these daft ****ers are a bit worried about some goon in his "16k" mr2
id be gutted if i spent 16k on a car and it looked like that
perhaps if fatty lost a few pounds itd impove his BHP per tonne no end
