Bead in actuator pipe????
Has anyone heard of this:
My mate has a P plate impreza n when he bought it, it had a little plastic bead in the actuator pipe with a hole in the centre, it runs at 1bar really well, when he took the bead out it only ran at 7psi, so he has ran it with the bead for the last 3 years n had no problems. Would it be safe in my 52 plate WRX?????

Yes, the bead (or correctly known as the orifice) is a standard part. Without it you'll run at wastegate pressure and not the pressure your boost solenoid is trying to run at. The new ones from subaru are brass and cost about £3.
You can vary the boost by changing the size of the hole although it can be a bit eratic (I know, I tried it)

Well I have a weird one, I have a MY96 WRX and that is running about 0.7 to 0.9 bar of boost and that is without the restrictor.
If one is fitted, the boost reduces!
Any ideas

AFAIK its real name is the "restrictor pill" ........it dampens down boost response for smoother operation and avoids boost spikes.
