Default what could it be??

Hi ive not long got myself 2001 bugeye wrx, its had a few bits and bobs done to it but not much to the engine. The engine has a k&N typhoon air filter and a forge dump valve, not been remapped or anything, it also has a after market exhaust on from cat back unsure which one thou..my problem is that my friend had also got himself one 2001 wrx but totaly standerd and his seems to be quicker than mine...by this i mean when we went out in his i seem to get threw back in my seat more than mine..why is this???
I had someone take my car out today to see if it was running ok and he said it is running fine it seems to be when you put your foot down it seems to take a few seconds for the power..now is this write or should i check for boost leeks ect..any help i would be realy greatfull...

Your k & N air filter filling your engine with hot air?
Try running the car with standard airbox and filter to see if that helps

Not all 'tuning' results in higher power and performance, some are utter rubbish and stifle the way Subaru set the engine/car up.

I'm a great believer in keeping everything standard and reaping the rewards of unsurpassed reliability and decent enough performance for the real world ..... no point being the fastest car to the next tail-back, now is it?

However, plenty on here will tell you to re-map, de-cat, this that and the other and extract 800 BHP .............. trouble is, of course, is that the engine lets go.

Petrol is a big big issue..! What you putting in it? Shell V power is a must, if its not this then you are likely to see a drop in performance!

Forget what sunnyside has said........PS lewis again LOL

The bugeye is a great car as it sorted quite a few problems from the old classic.....one of it's best features is the OEM intake system which is good for 350 BHP plus

I'd be tempted to ditch the K&N typhoon... but the Bugeye ECU is pretty clever and the MAF quite robust so it should be able to cope

Petrol is not usually an issue as the ECU can compensate

The problem is that you have a 8 year old car which might have other problems

I'd look for a local scooby specialist who can give the car a good look over

Where are you based ??

Have you been the passenger in both cars? If not then get someone to drive yours while you ride shotgun and all the missing power will present itself
