Police P1!

That's it! I'm transferring to Hampshire!
On a serious note...are you sure it was a P1? Knowing Hampshire's track record with Scoobs (particularly the red one) I doubt very much they would be able to justify the cost just in case they bend it. Time to start ringing my mates in Hampshire!!

Not a hint by any chance?

I'll make enquiries when I go to work. If they have bought one I want to know how such a small force can justify the cost and if they have start pursuading my boss to buy us one!!

I passed Nottingham Centre police station few months ago. I saw one senior police officer was driving P1 into that station, due to I didn't see any blue light under or behind the grill - therefore I think it is his private car.
But last week, I saw a Red unmarked MY00 with Prodrive spoiler and blue light on the top of roof - parked outside the Nottingham Centre police station !!!!

I have spoken to Harvey France (National Fleet Sales) at IM this morning and he has confirmed that NO police force has taken delivery of a P1 for police use.
He also confirmed that I get to drive one for 6 days at the company car in action show in June ! The real bummer is that they pay me an obscene amount of money for doing it too......... Oh life can be tough at times.
Seriously, Harvey states that the answer is definately NO re a police P1. That said, I may have some news for you all soon !!!!!!!

Anyone fancy a meet around this neck of the woods?
By the way, if anyone's driving a red T plate saloon, thanks for letting me out at the end of Grange Road where it meets the road to Woolston on Saturday afternoon, I was the one in the red turbo wagon :-)
Simon.

Out of interest, why have you removed the reg No. - is it illegal to show it on a pubilic forum? - Or would it be deemed iresponsible of you not to do so by your coleagues ?

Northants Police have just 'upgraded' their entire fleet with Porsche 911 Turbo4's, to replace the panda cars and Aston Martin Vanquish's for motorway use - Looks like the revinue being generated by the new speed cameras is being put to good use!
Oh, and the Chief Constable looks damn fine in his Mulsane Turbo!

Hi chaps,
I know you may feel that it's a bit unfair that we remove the VRM's but we do it for a good reason.
Several websites who openly display the VRM's of police vehicles have been threatened with legal action on the grounds that the publication of the numbers comprimises operational security. Obviously if we got sued, that would be the end of ScoobyNet - and as Simon makes his living out of ESoft (who host the BBS) it would also cause him problems.
These unmarked vehicles do more than 'just' traffic, they also work with departments like Firearms. For example, if your scoob had been stolen and the police had tracked it to a location with an unmarked vehicle, the last thing you would want is for the little ***** to realise that they had a 'welcoming committee' because they had seen the VRM of the police car on a website somewhere. There are an infinite number of undercover operations but only a finite number of cars to do the job.
Personally, I don't give two hoots who sees what, however, after much discussion, Simon & I decided that rather than risk ScoobyNet being sued and the fact these cars are unmarked for a reason, we would remove the numberplates. It was not an easy decision for us to make.
I hope you can understand it from our point of view - this was discussed on the BBS in depth a few months back when we made the initial decision and the majority of people agreed with us.
Hope this clarifies the position on this one
Cheers

Just a thought - maybe it was a Special Branch vehicle. Think about it - what would the modern day equivalent of Bodie & Doyle be driving???? Don't suppose Stuart H could comment on that? :-)

Hey, there's been a lot of negative comment about the P1. But I think this is the first time it's been compared to a Capri
Thought thinking about it I think there is one owner that may wish he had bought one instead

Not going to say to much for security reasons, suffice to say this is NOT a police vehicle however it is in use by the emergency services.
It is authorised to run under blue light conditions so if you see it, please get out of the way!!

hampshire? the navy used to run a fleet of seriously hot vehicles to move 'items' around the country at high speed where air is not a valid option.
I beleive the fastest time was a little over 5 hours from Portsmouth to the Holy Loch in the mid eighties - when you could actually get a bit of open road...
judging by the state of the roads in the south east yesterday I'm thinking of trading the scoob for a light aircraft - no speed restriction as such, pulls much better G's as well, no P1 could catch even the most basic aircraft.
