Recharge A/C at Kwik Fit
i remember kwik fit down the road used to have big banners about recharging A/C or something similar on offer,
but never paid attention simply because i didnt own a car with A/C
now that I have one, i want to get it checked and recharged if needed...
anyone remember what it was?? will it be cheaper to get it done when summer comes??
I can go down there and ask, but i thought i'd first ask the masterminds on here and also get some advise

Personally i wouldn't get Kwik Fit to put air into my tyres.
The amount of threads on various forums (including scoobynet) about leaving their cars (ok it does say in the link it's a while-u-wait service) and finding out that it's either been driven or needs extra work doing to it.
I'm sure this doesn't apply to all Kwik Fits but i still wouldn't go to them.
Other Products :: Air Conditioning if you still want them to do the a/c

Being on honest; the recharge machines they use are fully automated. Its like using a microwave:
Connect up the guages and machine, enter in the correct weight of gas (usually printed in the engine bay + 150g for the guages and pipes) , enter vac time (at least 30mins), hold time. Open the taps. And press Go.
It does the rest (reclaim, vacuum the system (removes air/moisture), and refills the system to the correct charge weight. Its pretty much idiot proof.
The only thing that "could" **** up, is if they decide to replace the dryer unit (or other a/c part), or if the system has been reclaimed 2 or 3 times beforehand (either via leakage or body/engine repairs) and no extra oil has been added to compensate for any potential loss, or they add too much oil (equally as damaging). Generally speaking, they won't bother with the oil unless the system has been opened up to the atmosphere or shows evidence of oil leakage.
ON the other hand, if they use one of those "recharge in a bottle" (aerosol can with a guage and a pipe) instead of a proper reclaim unit...run a mile (or if in the car, get in and drive away ).
