Ask how long the stickers have been on there - when you sticker a car and they are on for a long time, the paint will fade( evenly so you dont really notice it much ) but the paint under the stickers wont, so when you remove them you can get a slightly darker 'ghost' of where they used to be.

Well Lads I have just been to see this motor tonight. I'm still in shock my friends , now I have had some tidy motors over the years my last so called fast car was and octavia vrs 180bhp. Well well what can I say, I have never driven anything as quick as that , unreal power , couldn't change gear fast enough.. Still smiling now can only liken it to bike power!.
Well all I can say is I will be getting one.
Few more questions
1 Fully decated stainless on , not been remaped , will that be required for full power ?
2 Engine management light on due to lack of lamber sensers is that a problem?
3 It's done 65k cam belt changed two years ago , will that need doing again soon?
4 Will I need driving lessons again lol lol ????

It will need re mapped mate if it has got a full de-cat, can damage engine if not AFAIK.
that is why the lambda sensor is on as well due to the decat.
What people usually go for if they dont go down the ppp route is:
1. Full de-cat or sports cat
2. Uprated fuel pump(walbro255)
3. Remap to match.
Shoul achieve appro 330-340 Bhp,

Tried to answer this at work today but work must have blocked my post.
It seems to me that the car has had a half arsed attempt to mod it with a full de cat and aftermarket dump valve which can damage your engine as well, the CEL is already on and that could be hiding other things.
Personally i would be asking loads of q's and checking all receipts and i for one would not drive about with the CEL on.
I would walk away mate, TBH there are some good cars out there and some on this site, i know you have money to burn but waiting for the right car could save you in the end.
All the best.

Does the car have a service history?
How many owners?
What brand is the exhaust / decat and who carried out the work
What are the tyres / brakes like? They cost a fair few £££ to replace.
The car is cheap, however I would ask the question why. The CEL showing may hold the key. If you must have that car then a dealer will read the fault codes for you to tell you why its on.
Budget around £600 for a full remap. Bob

The car does have history , plenty of it although not all Subaru. Exhaust bought off Ebay fitted at local garage. tyres okish goodyears. Guys wife works for a local garage , he says he takes it in each month and has the engine management light checked for real faults. I wouldn't be able to do that as no friends in high places. 3 owners.

There may be a way of isolating the lambda cel prob, however I'm no mechanic so won't try sending you in the wrong direction! Bob

From my experience the CEL could possibly be the EGT(exhaust gas temp) sensor. The de-cat will run much hotter than the standard exhaust and the ECU won't like it so it flags it up. This can be cured by mapping and soldering a 2K resistor into the correct place in the ECU. All this is easily sorted by a specialist/mapper.
Don't take it for granted though as the CEL could be something very sinister as well, just get someone to check the fault codes for you. HTH.

These cars are no picnic to run mate, if a few things need replaced then it can run into thousands, it seems to me thats its been done on the cheap, ask if they have the standard exhaust and put it back to standard, my car is full de cat and re mapped by one of the best mappers, Andy Forrest and i am running approx 340 Bhp with no CEL in the 15 months i have had it.
