removing scratch when you've been 'keyed'

Inevitable it was going to happen living in central london I guess.
I would be grateful if anybody could recommend what's best to remove a not too deep foot long scratch, made by some jealous monkey brained little worm (do I sound a bit annoyed!)

I noticed a simualr scratch on my girlfriends brand new metallic black Corsa.
I managed to get it almost completely out, by using some stuff from Halfords called "Safe cut" It cost £6.99.
I guess it is simular to T-cut, but not as extreeme.
It took me about 7 - 8 attemps to get the scratch out. I guess this is better than the standard T-Cut, as there is no fear of getting down to the metal.
One work of warning though :- I was so anxious to try it, I didnt wash the car, and ended up making it worse, probably by rubbing more dirt into it !!.

LOL at Colin Berry,
Take it to a bodywork specialist, depends on the depth, if it's only scratched the lacquer coat, you can use varying degrees of aggressive cutting compounds (not as bad as it sounds), or wet flat it back then buff it out.
You shouldn't use T cut on metallic paint (apparently).
Mike.
