^^ Not many for sale full stop Market for importing them seems to have dried up too as £ vs Yen is poor so cost of imports has / is rising. Try PCM, link to website below:

Stocklist - Performance Centre Manchester

look at the price or the spec C's i may just go for a JDM STI 8 or 9, and do a few stage one mods, should make for a nice fast road car TBH! as thats all I want it for!

If its just a fast road car then the spec c isn't the car for you. There is so much more involved in the ownership than just buying the car, you really need to be focused on buying one rather than be inbetween, so I personally would say the jdm sti was a better choice for you as its more comfortable and more livable with :-)

I'd agree with that but if he is used to the Classic "rawness" the Spec C would be closer to that feel

Think i will go for the JDM sti, spec C is rather expensive!
Do few stage 1 mods like 3 inch exhaust + manifolds, filter/induction, turbo maybe fuel pump remap boost controller, the normall stuff and a few handeling mods, should make a nice fast road car!!

I had the same dilema over the past month or two, MY05 JDM STi or MY04/05 Spec C?

Almost went for a couple of JDM STi's then found a Spec C for sale on here. Went to view it and bought it there and then, picked it up a week later. Absolutely great car and IMO pretty easy to live with.

I owned a modded MY01 WRX before and it is a harsher, rawer drive as you'd expect but other than potholes and sunken manholes which almost break by spine (it also has coilovers) it's perfectly ok for an everyday car.

Bit noisier in the cabin due to no sound proofing but then again, my last car was a full decat so it's not that much noisier, more road noise and less burble.

The only issue I think that's going to cause me hassle is the re-fueling. Because it's only a 45 litre tank it only covers 200 miles between fills and as it's run on V-Power and there are hardly any stations around in South Wales (or even the South West of England ), it might prove annoying when I stray too far from home in it (time to buy some millers octane)

Personally if you can get a good one for the right money I'd advise you to buy it, awesome cars.

No need to change the manifolds on these no induction needed, just a good dry panel filter, no uprated fuel pump needed, just an exhaust and remap

Depends on the year, 2003/4 cars are a little less than the later ones, so about 300-310bhp, 05 cars had some engine enhancements to make them breath better so around 310-320bhp.

Sorry to say, but if you can't justify spending decent money, then you should re-consider what it is you want. Subarus cannot be run on a shoe-string , ie they cost money to run, so don't expect the running costs of a Vauxhall Cavalier. Spec C's are a very capable car and need to be run properly otherwise it's pointless owning one. Hope this advice helps .

I am from scotland mate and had my spec c up here, PX it for a MY06 STi because of a child on the way.
Maybe its still kicking around scotland somewhere as they are rare up here, lol

As everyone has said its not a car to buy lightly and if you wait they do seem to come up in batches. as TX said earlier the strong yen means no more chaep cars for importers at the moment.
Get one you will not be dissapointed, and the re sale will be better as well.

50L isn't it? Mine certainly was & I used to get about 230m between fill ups. I always used Tesco99 though. Never found it a problem myself.

Is an Evo RS worth the extra money over an Evo MR/GSR?
Thats probably the closest comparison your going to get, but its not about the money, its about the car.

The MY06 Spec C is 90Kg lighter than the standard STi due to the following changes:

• Rear wash wipe **deleted**
• Privacy glass **deleted**
• Deadlocks **deleted**
• Boot trim and carpet **deleted**
• Passenger sun visor **deleted**
• Grab handles **deleted**
• Ski hatch **deleted**
• Glove box light **deleted**
• Isofix child seat fixing point **deleted**
• Underseal **deleted**
• Sound deadening **deleted**
• Map lights **deleted**
• Speakers in rear doors **deleted**
• Centre diagonal inertia seatbelt **deleted**
• Side airbags **deleted**
• HID headlights **deleted**
• Radio/CD unit **deleted**
• Side skirts **deleted**

-
However, the Spec C has the following changes over and above even the JDM STi:

• Thinner lightweight glass
• Lightweight roof
• Aluminium boot lid
• 12 litre intercooler spray bottle mounted behind the rear seats
• Different radiator and water pump
• Engine & transmission oil coolers
• Roller bearing version of the twin scroll turbo
• Rear strut brace
• Performance revolving chamber fuel pump (anti surge)
• Black seats, door panels and carpet
• Stiffer chassis with revised welding
• Larger intake pipe
• Roof vent
• Smaller 50 litre fuel tank
• Smaller lightweight battery

No doubt I've missed something, but it's a good start.
